Sophia serves as the President of the DC chapter of the VR/AR Association, the global industry association for VR and AR, connecting major industries with the best in the fields of AR/VR and connected emerging technologies. The Washington DC chapter of VRARA aims to harness the DMV’s unique power and influence to propagate these technologies across all industries, promote the best use cases and progress our community’s awareness and connectivity within the VR/AR industry.
Sophia co-produces Ready Player Golf, the first virtual reality charity golf tournament. The event has generated over $20,000 benefitting Doctors Without Borders, Children's Cancer Research Fund & XR Safety Initiative and attracted over 90 participants.

Sophia is co-producer and host of the virtual red carpet interviews at The Polys - WebXR Awards, a new annual awards ceremony dedicated to honoring the pioneers of WebXR and showcasing the importance of the growing medium to provide ubiquitous access to immersive content through the web. Accessibility was a recurring theme at the Polys, and anyone with a connected device was able to access the event – which had over 500 RSVPs. The awards show had a series of firsts:

It was the first major award created for the WebXR standard.

It was the first award show to stream live into and out of a “Meta-Multiverse'' of watch parties on immersive platforms Altspace, Engage, Hubs, Tivoli Cloud, VR Land, & Frame via three distribution channels: YouTube, Twitch and DLive.

Live check-ins from immersive watch parties and live traversing from one webxr platform to another.

It is the first major award trophy to be presented as a hologram and also minted on the Blockchain.

Sophia is a co-founder of XR Women, a community devoted promoting diversification in the XR workforce and to connecting, educating, empowering, and uplifting women in XR.
Virginia Virtual City is a collaboration to put together a feasible plan to execute a virtual platform where constituents of the city can learn, work, transact and entertain. Sophia is responsible for helping to shape policy surrounding the integration and interactions within the city and building the ecosystem between AR/VR technologists and businesses that are looking to integrate with the virtual city.
The Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) is the world's largest modeling, simulation and training event. I/ITSEC is organized by the National Training and Simulation Association (NTSA), which promotes international and interdisciplinary cooperation within the fields of modeling and simulation (M&S), training, education, analysis, and related disciplines.
Sophia is a member of I/ITSEC's Human Performance Analysis & Engineering subcommittee to assess papers that focus on the human dimension, addressing humans as an integral component within systems and in mission accomplishment including: human performance measurement/effectiveness methods, tools, and evaluations; human-computer interface (HCI) design and evaluation; usability/user experience; decision-support systems; and knowledge management tools and techniques.
Wendell August Forge is a 100-year old metal forging company that is well known for their annual custom Christmas ornaments. They decided to offer NFT-versions of their popular ornaments and mint them on the blockchain. Sophia managed the project's go-to-market strategy and bridged the gap of the NFT's utility in 3D virtual worlds. This NFT is a 3D asset with each of them having their unique qualities.
